What is a Classic Monogram?

What is a Monogram? Here's the Definition of a Mongram!

The definition of a Monogram is a woman's 3-letter initials used to decorate & personalize her clothing & belongings. Each women's Monogram is her own; a cute shorthand for her full name. The proper Monogram Etiquette format is first name initial, last name initial, middle/maiden name initial. A Monogram always has the biggest letter in the middle, which is why the middle letter is the last name (most important).

Ladies:
First Name, LAST NAME, Middle Name.

The reason why the last name traditionally goes in the middle is because the last name is most important and should stand out!
Example: Mary Rachel American, whose monogram would look like:

Married Ladies:
First Name, LAST NAME, Maiden name (or middle name if you prefer). Generally when a woman is married, the middle name leaves her monogram and is replaced by her maiden name.

Example: Our friend Mary Rachel American finds the love of her life, Bill Freedom, and they get married! Her new monogram would be:

Married Couples:
Bride's First Name, LAST NAME, groom's first name.
The reasoning for this one is easy, ladies first!
Since Mary & Bill Freedom are now happily married, their shared monogram would be:

Monograms are a fun, chic, and sophisticated way to add flair to your wardrobe and punctuate your personal style, but…where do monograms come from? But if you’re as curious about the origins of this awesome new trend as we hope you are, keep reading to find out.

The monogram motif has a rich history dating as far back as 350 BC when they first appeared in ancient Greece on coins used as currency. The coins featured the first two letters of the name of the city they were from and… insert drum roll here…that’s how monograms were born!

Over the years, the practice of monogramming has traveled the world. The use of personal insignia has been documented in Europe, Asia, South America &  now popularized & modernized in the Good Old USA. 🇺🇸❤️

Monograms add style & flair to casual clothing. Monogrammed clothing is classy, stands out, and shows that a girl is on top of her style, outfits & wardrobe. Historically monograms have been used to signify things like wealth, royal status, and ownership. Married couples can have their own monograms to symbolize their love😍. Couple Monograms are used for Monogrammed Blankets, Pillowcases, Towels & Wooden Monograms- Items that are shared or used to decorate a home!

Like little alphabet butterflies, monograms have transformed into a fun and fresh way to flaunt your individuality by merging a classic style with contemporary fashion. Your monogram is special.
